BenQ Chairman Mr. Chen Chih-hung has been awarded the title of Academician of the 12th Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI).

On October 19th, the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) held the “12th ITRI Academician Certification Ceremony”, with President Tsai Ing-wen personally presenting the certifications. This year, four outstanding leaders in the fields of biomedicine and ICT were honored, including Mr. Chen Chih-hung, Chairman of the BenQ Group and Chairman of the National Cheng Kung University Global Alumni Association. President Tsai, during her address, commended Academician Chen Chih-hung for leading BenQ to become the first computer peripheral technology group in Taiwan to join the RE100 initiative and for winning the Yahoo Best Corporate Employer Award for five consecutive years, demonstrating a genuine commitment to social responsibility. She expressed confidence that under his leadership, the company will continue to align with international standards for sustainable development.

In his speech, Academician Chen Chih-hung acknowledged the significant role that ITRI has played in industry over the past 50 years, leading technological innovations and breakthroughs. He attributed Taiwan’s recent international recognition in the industry to the efforts of the government and ITRI. He also mentioned the numerous collaborations between BenQ and ITRI, expressing hope that ITRI will continue to innovate and foster more Taiwanese unicorns.

Chairman Chen Chih-hung of the BenQ Group is the chief architect of the group’s transformation and innovation. Under his leadership, BenQ is committed to advancing towards the vision of generating over half of its revenue from high value-added businesses by 2022. He has set forth four winning strategies: optimizing existing businesses, expanding into the healthcare sector, developing solutions, and establishing a presence in the 5G network communication industry. Chairman Chen Chih-hung is dedicated to giving back to his alma mater, promoting collaboration between National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and industry, establishing smart campuses, and facilitating alumni networking platforms. He actively supports NCKU’s long-term vision of becoming a world-class university. From 2019 to 2021, he served as the president of the NCKU Alumni Association in Taipei, initiated the Phoenix Fund platform in 2020, and assumed the role of Chairman of the NCKU Global Alumni Association in 2022.
